THE SECOND INTERNATIONAL SMART LABEL CONFERENCE

A Special Pre-Conference Workshop:

HOW TO DESIGN & EVALUATE (ROI)

YOUR OWN RF/SMART LABEL SOLUTION

When: Monday, October 21, 2002         Time: 1PM – 5PM

Where: Sofitel O’Hare Hotel                 Cost: $349

The focus of this special hands-on workshop is two-fold:

l How to design your own RF Smart Label System

l Metrics to evaluate the ROI of an RF Smart Label System

Learn how to (1) evaluate the use of RF smart labels to improve their own operation for asset tracking, inventory control, work-in-process, etc.; (2) configure an RF Smart Label system to improve your own operation; (3) create metrics that can be used to estimate the ROI of your own RF-based system, and, (4) understand which application parameters are critical to the design of a successful RF solution.

Attendees to this special Workshop are encouraged to bring the details of their own tracking/identification application to the workshop. The feasibility of using RF smart label technology on these applications will be discussed.

The instructor of this special workshop is Dr. Pat King, President of Technologies ROI, a consulting firm that focuses on product development, utilization, manufacturing and commercialization of autoidentification systems, including RFID hardware and tag systems, RFDC systems, and, ink jet and laser components/systems. Previously, Pat was VP of Engineering of a major auto-ID manufacturer. He was responsible for creating and commercializing an extensive "One Tag" family of RFID tags that had applications in the food, automobile, construction machinery, materials handling, warehouse/distribution and computer industries.

Pat received his Ph.D. from Boston College in 1982. He has been awarded 12 patents and currently has seven patent applications involving the use of Radio Frequency devices to identify containers, tires, general parts and goods as well as for mounting clips having a wireless communication device.

He is an active member of several trade associations including SME. IS&T, AIM, AIAG, and AMA.
